Gross Weights Upon the County Highways (No. 95-7)
No vehicle shall be operated or moved over any of the highways
within the jurisdiction of the Board of county Commissioners
of Johnson County, Indiana, the gross weight per axle of
which vehicle is greater than seventeen thousand (17,000)
pounds.
From January 15th to April 15th each year, the gross
weight per axle shall not be greater than eleven thousand
(11,000) pounds.
Any person may upon proper application
in writing to the County Highway Superintendent or Engineer
and upon good cause shown may be issued a permit for transporting
heavy vehicles and loads or other objects not conforming
to the provisions of this Ordinance or posted signs in
effect at the time of said application. If a permit is granted
for transporting weight in excess of this ordinance, said
permit must be carried in the vehicle and displayed to any
authorized personnel who stops the vehicle for suspected
violation of the Ordinance.
A person who violates this Ordinance
commits a Class C infraction pursuant to Indiana Code 9-4-1-125(d).
