(September 30, 2006)

Reminder of County Parking Ordinance
The
Sheriff's Office wishes to remind county residents and visitors of the County
Parking Ordinance. Ordinance 89-24 states that no vehicle or trailer of
any sort shall be permitted to park on county streets between the hours of 11:00
PM and 7:00 AM the next morning, Monday through Thursday nights. Vehicles
must be off the paved portion of the roadway during these time periods.
The ordinance further states that whenever any police officer finds a vehicle
parked in violation of this ordinance, such officer is hereby authorized to
require the driver or other person in charge of the vehicle to move the same to
a position which would not violate this ordinance. If the person so directed
shall fail or refuse to move the vehicle, or if the vehicle is unattended, then
such officer is hereby authorized to provide for the removal of such vehicle to
an appropriate garage or other place of safety, and the owner of such vehicle
shall be liable for all of the costs incidental to the removal of the vehicle.
Violators of the ordinance will be cited into the Johnson County Magistrate
Court where any person violating any provisions of this ordinance shall, upon
conviction, be fined a sum not to exceed two thousand five hundred dollars
($2,500.00).
