K-9 Centa Retires
(December 19, 2005)

Sheriff’s Canine Retires
On August 31st, 2005, veteran Sheriff’s Canine Centa retired after
nearly 49 doggie years of service to Johnson County. In seven years on the
street, Centa is responsible for countless arrests of fleeing felons and an
impressive narcotic seizure record. While she does not accept retirement
very well (often sitting at her door waiting to go to work,) Centa does get some
satisfaction by sitting in the squad car reminiscing about her "good ole days."
At the age of 10, Centa’s new obligation is to oversee the residence of her
handler, Deputy Travis Derrett - which she faithfully executes nightly from her
couch.
Congratulations to Centa on her Retirement!
