JCSO Conducts Traffic Speed Study of

Indian Creek Road

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office conducted a speed study on Indian Creek Road in southern Hensley Township outside of Trafalgar. The speed limit for the area studied is 40 miles per hour. During a six day period in January 2004, 437 vehicles were clocked via radar. Of those vehicles, 18% (81) were speeding. The average speed of passing motorists over the six day period was only 33 miles per hour. Conversely, the highest speed clocked was 65 miles per hour in the 40 mile per hour zone. The heaviest traffic volume showed a direct correlation with school starting and dismissal times: around 8:00 A.M. and around 3:00 P.M. Deputies will continue to monitor the area for speeding motorists and other unsafe driving.
