Incident Command System Update

At first glance it may appear as if pre-school aged children are absent from the above photo, but in fact there is nothing missing at all.  Emergency 911 dispatchers from the Sheriff’s Office were joined by dispatchers from the Greenwood Police and New Whiteland Police Departments who attended training at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to learn system basics about the 800 MHz Safe-T system, and the 911 Dispatchers Role in the Incident Command System.  Veteran Dispatch Trainer Vivian Nowaczewski presented the discussions and lesson plans, which included a role playing exercise (pictured above) where dispatchers are given disaster scenarios; the dispatchers then used what they learned during the course to organize the Incident Command System structure to best fit their unique scenario.  A better understanding of the Incident Command System and the critical role played in ICS by the dispatcher will benefit all first responders.  A special thanks to instructor Vivian Nowaczewski for a job well done!
