Deputy Hart Graduates ILEA

New Deputy Graduates from ILEA

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office offers congratulations to new Merit Deputy Sheriff Matt Hart as he recently graduated in the 196th session of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield.

Deputy Hart, 26 years of age, resides in Greenwood. Hart worked in the Jail Division of the Sheriff's Office where his work ethic and dedication to duty was demonstrated since 2009. Hart stated that his time spent working in the Jail Division will make him a better officer by teaching him how to handle people in difficult and high stress situations.

Deputy Hart stated that his favorite part of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy was the Emergency Vehicle Operations driving course, while he jokingly quipped that his least enjoyable part was "putting up with ILEA Staffer Nick Schivarelli."

Hired by Sheriff Doug Cox, Deputy Matt Hart graduated the academy with a firearms qualification level of Expert, which is the highest level available. Hart stated that he is thankful to complete the academy and looks forward for his opportunity to help the public.

Deputy Hart has begun a multi-phase structured Field Training Program to fine tune his ILEA training with realistic, on-the-job training with oversight from trained well-seasoned Sheriff's Deputies. Upon successful completion of the nearly three month field training process, Deputy Hart will then be released to work solo.

Congratulations and Welcome to

Deputy Matt Hart!
