David Owens to Receive John A. Price Award
On July 11th 2013 Chaplain David Owens with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office will receive the John A. Price award for Excellence in Chaplaincy. This award will be presented in Grapevine, Texas during the ICPC annual conference. Earlier in the year David received the Wilbert Cunningham Award for Excellence in Chaplaincy in Dublin, Ohio. David was nominated for this prestigious award by members of this agency. David has been a Chaplain for the Sheriff's Office since 2003. He has been very dependable and an outstanding public servant ministering to those in need. In the nomination letter for the award David was nominated because: 1. David recently ministered to victims and families of the Richmond Hills subdivision after a natural gas disaster in Indianapolis destroyed a whole neighborhood. 2. David spent a whole week ministering to victims of the Henryville tornadoes. 3. David assisted flood victims in Franklin and Columbus. 4. David is a member of the District 5 Disaster Mental Health Team. 5. David is the lead Chaplain at the Franklin United Methodist Home where he gives invaluable leadership to the Chaplain Team. 6. David has spent countless hours at Johnson Memorial Hospital ministering to those in need. 7. David has organized a Chaplains fellowship each month at Community Hospital south in Indianapolis. 8. David as an Indiana Guard Reserve Chaplain has spent many hours at Camp Atterbury Military base ministering to soldiers, and delivering cookies at Christmas time.
